RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Wilmington (Del.) University scored on two of its first three shots en route to a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men’s soccer victory over host Felician College on Saturday afternoon at Tryon Field. Wilmington (7-3-1, 2-1) is the No. 5 team in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region coaches ranking.

Felician was kept off the scoreboard despite an 18-8 advantage in shot attempts. The Golden Falcons (3-6, 1-4) held Wilmington to two first-half shots, but trailed, 1-0, at halftime on Sargbah Tarpeh’s (Philadelphia, PA/Overbook) unassisted tally in the 37th minute. Tarpeh then assisted on a Socrates Joachim (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) goal 2:42 into the second period.

The Golden Falcons kept up the offensive pressure, but were only able to put one of their 12 second-half shots on net. Wildcat goalkeeper Ethan Kavanagh (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) made six saves in his fourth shutout of the season. Felician’s Paulo DosSantos (Toronto, Canada/Sir Oliver Mowat) was credited with four saves.

Felician’s best scoring chance came when a Quincy Small (Linden, Guyana/Mackenzie) first-half shot was saved by a Wilmington defender with the game still scoreless.
