Felician Athletics - 9/20/08 MEN'S SOCCER - Defense Dominant In 1-0 Win Over Chestnut Hill

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Felician College defense limited visiting Chesnut Hill College to one shot attempt and no corner kicks in Felician's 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer victory on Saturday afternoon at Tryon Field.

Golden Falcon freshman Carlos Canido (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Tahuichi Academy) scored the game's only goal with two minutes, 14 seconds, remaining in the first half. Canido settled a pass from Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) and buried the ball inside the left post. Mike Azzato (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) also assisted on the play. Felician (3-3, 1-1) owned a 15-1 shot advantage on the day, but Canido's scoring play was one of only two shots on goal.

Chestnut Hill's shot was in the 29th minute off the foot of Andrew Thorne (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame), and hit the right side of the net. The Griffins' only serious scoring chance in period two was ended by a foul call. Felician goalkeeper Paulo DosSantos (Toronto, Ontario/Sir Oliver Mowat) did not need to make a save in recording his third shutout of the season. CHC's P.J. Tucker (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) went the distance in goal, notching one save.
