RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Nine of 11 non-conference games will be against East Region opponents for the Felician College men’s basketball team, according to its 2008-09 schedule released today.

Felician will play the NCAA-maximum 27 games this season, all against fellow Division II schools. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference slate stayed steady at 16 contests. While a year ago the Golden Falcons played non-league games against teams from five conferences plus an independent, the 2008-09 schedule sees five teams from the New York City/Long Island-heavy East Coast Conference.

Four more games come against foes from the Northeast-10 Conference, including a "home-and-home" series against Le Moyne College (home, Dec. 29; away, Jan. 19). The CACC, ECC, and NE-10 make up Division II’s East Region.

“It’s nice to be playing a mixture of ECC and Northeast-10 schools – especially the ECC because we have two players from New York City,” said fourth-year Felician head coach Del G. Harrison. “Our conference will be very competitive like it always is. It will be another challenging season and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Felician opens the season at Catawba College’s Salisbury Roundball Classic on Nov. 15 and 16 in Salisbury, N.C. The Golden Falcons face the host Indians and Lenior-Rhyne University. The CACC opener comes on Nov. 23 at local rival Caldwell College, and the first home game is Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. against Philadelphia University.

The Golden Falcons went 10-17 a year ago and finished sixth in the CACC North Division with a 4-12 league record.
