COLCHESTER, Vt. -- The Saint Michael's College women's soccer team defeated visiting Felician College, 6-0, in non-conference action Friday afternoon at Duffy Field. The season opener for both schools, the match began the four-team, two-day DoubleTree Kick Off Classic.
Saint Michael's out-shot Felician, 16-2, in the first period in building a 5-0 halftime lead. Sophomore Liz Freiberger (South Walpole, MA) scored the first two Purple Knight goals, including one three minutes, 38 seconds into the contest. SMC freshman Teal Bryan (North Yarmouth, ME) also scored twice, and classmate Laura Ostrout (Northfield, VT) finished with a goal and three assists.
Golden Falcon goalkeeper Amanda Musarra (South Amboy, NJ) made seven saves in 45 minutes of work. Shaneil Lorenzo (Dover, NJ) made her collegiate debut in the second half and finished with two saves. Three Purple Knight keepers combined on the shutout, with Ashleigh Adams (Milton, VT) earning the victory.
