RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Two early-season multiple-day tournaments highlight the non-conference portion of the 2008 Felician College women’s volleyball schedule, which was released today.

Felician will play 30 a school-record matches next season, all against NCAA Division II opponents. Its 17-match Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule begins on Sept. 17 with its home opener against Nyack College.

Led by second-year head coach Alan Clements, the Golden Falcons will open the season at the two-day Golden Suns Spikefest, hosted by Arkansas Tech University on Aug. 29-30 in Russellville, Ark. In the longest road trip in the five-year history of the program, Felician will play the University of Alabama-Huntsville, Cameron University, Drury University, and the host Golden Suns, all for the first time. The following weekend, the Golden Falcons play another two-day event at Lock Haven University, at which time eight of the 13 non-conference matches will be complete.

“Opening in Arkansas is a great way to start the season,” Clements said. “We get to see another part of the country and face some very good competition. We expect to have five first-year players receive quality time, so being on the road in Arkansas and Lock Haven will help us grow quickly and get us ready for our conference schedule.”

Felician set a school record with six victories in 2007, and reached the conference tournament for the first time by finishing fourth in the CACC North Division. The Golden Falcons’ complete 2008 schedule is available by clicking here.
