Joe BresciaRUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman relief pitcher Joe Brescia of Holmdel was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America Division II All-Northeast Region Second Team when the NCBWA released its all-region honorees today.

Brescia is the third Felician baseball player, and first pitcher, named to an all-region team since the College joined the NCAA in 2002-03. In 16 appearances in 2008, he had a 1-0 won-lost record and posted a school-record seven saves in nine chances. He pitched to a 1.46 earned-run average and a .180 opponent batting average. The 6-foot-5 right-hander allowed 16 hits, including no homeruns, struck out 19 batters, and walked 10 in 24 2/3 innings.

A 2007 graduate of Holmdel High, Brescia has also been selected to the all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference First Team and all-New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association First Team this postseason. He helped the Golden Falcons to a 26-24 overall record and a 17-10 mark in CACC play. Felician reached its third consecutive conference tournament.

Brescia joins Mike Rooth (2004) and Frank Quintana (2005, 2007) as NCAA all-region performers for Felician baseball. The Division II Northeast Region consists of the CACC, East Coast Conference, and Northeast-10 Conference.
