5/8/08 GENERAL - Felician Names Senior Student-Athletes Of The Year Print E-mail
RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Felician seniors Paul Chegwidden of Hamburg and Heather Van Dyke of West Milford were named the College's Male and Female Senior Student-Athlete of the Year at the athletic department's annual banquet Tuesday night at The Fiesta in Wood-Ridge.

Chegwidden was the 2007 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Cross-Country Runner of the Year, winning the conference championship race by 55 seconds in leading the Golden Falcons to their fourth consecutive team title. He set a school and meet 8,000-meter record of 26:35 at that race. A three-time all-CACC selection, Chegwidden has a 3.50 grade-point average with a double major in special education and history.

Van Dyke was a four-year starter in softball at catcher. She hit .306 for her career with 167 collegiate hits. She is a two-time CACC All-Tournament selection and is expected to be honored later this month with her third Academic All-CACC award. Van Dyke owns a 3.96 GPA in mathematics education.

Also honored on Tuesday were Felician's 26 senior student-athletes, and members of the conference championship men's cross-country team.
