RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Vinnie DiBenedetti of Forked River has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the CACC announced today.
DiBenedetti, a 6-foot, 170-pound centerfielder, batted .562 (9 for 16) and slugged .938 with three triples, three runs scored and six runs batted in during a 4-1 week for the Golden Falcons. On Wednesday, he drove in the winning run with a 10th-inning triple, capping off a 3 for 4 performance, as Felician defeated LIU-C.W. Post, 3-2. He had three multi-hit games on the week.
DiBenedetti is batting .308 on the year for the 26-21 Golden Falcons. Starting 44 games, he has amassed a school-record nine triples, scored 27 runs, driven in 21, and stolen 13 bases. He is riding a 10-game hitting streak, during which he is hitting .559 with 12 RBI. A 2005 graduate of Lacey Township High, DiBenedetti was also named CACC Player of the Week on Apr. 28.
The Golden Falcons are the No. 4 seed in this week’s CACC Tournament, and see first-round action on Thursday, when they face top-seeded Philadelphia University at 3 p.m. in Wilmington, Del.
