Felician Athletics - 4/18/08 GOLF - Peters Is Medalist As Felician Sets Victory Record

PHILADELPHIA -- Felician College set a golf program record for dual-match victories when it defeated Chestnut Hill College, 348-369, during a six-team event hosted by the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP) on Friday afternoon at Island Green Country Club.

Felician, a third-year program, finished fifth on the day to end 2007-08 with a dual-match record of 2-10, the first time the Golden Falcons have won more than one match. Sophomore Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ) was the medalist for the second time this season at Island Green, defeating 29 other competitors with a three-over-par 75.

Peters led Felician to a team score of 348, one stroke off of the school record and one shot behind Philadelphia University for fourth place. Freshman Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) shot 82, and sophomore Rob Young (Glendale, NY) matched a season low with an 84. Rounding out the Golden Falcon scoring was a season-low 107 from senior Greg Patullo (South Amboy, NJ).

The match was the last in the career of Patullo, who joined classmate Nick Lyons (Jackson, NJ) as the final holdovers from the inaugural 2005-06 team.
