Felician Athletics - 4/7/08 SOFTBALL - DeGrushe Selected CACC Rookie Of The Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman Lauren DeGrushe of Guttenberg has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced today.

DeGrushe, a 5-foot-6 infielder, hit four homeruns in a three-game span during Felician’s 4-2 week. On March 31, her third-inning three-run homer provided all of her team’s offense in a Game 2 3-2 victory at Holy Family University. On Thursday, she hit tying and go-ahead solo shots in an eventual 3-1 home win over Molloy College, and also homered in a Game 2 loss. For the week, she hit .429 (6 for 14) and slugged 1.286 with seven runs scored and seven RBI in six games. She also walked five times without striking out.

DeGrushe is batting .333 on the year for the 9-12 Golden Falcons, playing third base and shortstop. Starting all 21 games, she has amassed 10 extra-base hits, including five homers, scored 16 runs, and driven in 14, all team highs. She also leads Felician with a .465 on-base percentage and a CACC-best .702 slugging percentage. She is a 2006 graduate of High Tech High, and transferred after sitting out last season at Pace University.
