4/4/08 GENERAL - Trio Of Student-Athletes Make CACC Winter All-Academic Team |

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College men’s basketball student-athletes Jason Romer (New York, NY/Wadleigh) and Derrell Thomas (Harlem, NY/Manhattan Center), as well as Krystal Dixon (Somerset, NJ/New Brunswick Tech) of the women’s basketball team, have been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Winter 2007-08 All-Academic Team, the CACC announced on Thursday.
In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic team, recipients must have participated in a CACC Championship winter sport, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been a student at their current school for at least two semesters, and have achieved a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher.
Romer, a senior guard/forward, owns a 3.50 GPA as a business administration major. He was also voted to the All-CACC Third Team. In 2007-08, he averaged 15.2 points, a team-high 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists, and led the conference with a .435 three-point field-goal percentage. He sits fourth on Felician’s all-time list for three-pointers with 119.
Thomas, a senior guard, contributed 9.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game, and will graduate in third place on the Golden Falcons’ career assist list with 248. He maintains a 3.76 GPA in business administration.
Dixon, a junior guard, is a biology major with a 3.50 GPA. She appeared in 23 out of 27 games for the women’s team, making 12 starts, and averaged 3.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 20.1 minutes.
The CACC All-Academic program is in its fourth season. Twenty-one student-athletes from the CACC’s 13 member schools were honored this winter; the entire list is available by clicking here. In all, 131 players have been named thus far in 2006-07, including 14 from Felician. |
