LYNDHURST, N.J. – Junior Dave Schoer (Manalapan, NJ) hit a tiebreaking seventh inning double and senior Nick Riker (Highlands, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) pitched seven solid innings to lift Felician College to a 4-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference baseball victory over visiting Nyack College on Thursday afternoon at Breslin Field.

With the game tied 2-2, Felician’s Marcos Torres (Miami, FL) singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Schoer followed with a double to left-center field that scored Torres from first base. The Golden Falcons (9-12, 2-2) tacked on an unearned run later in the inning when Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, NJ) drew a bases-loaded walk.

Riker (1-4) fell behind, 2-0, after the game’s first four hitters on a two-run double by CACC batting leader Cody Levins (McKinney, TX), but emerged unscathed after that point. He scattered eight hits, struck out six batters and walked one. Felician received a sacrifice fly from Schoer in the bottom of the first and a Vinnie DiBenedetti (Forked River, NJ) RBI single in the sixth to tie the game. After his team took the lead, Scott VanEs (Secaucus, NJ) danced around three base hits to record the final six outs for his second save of the season.

Losing pitcher Phil Messerian (Fair Lawn, NJ) went 3 for 5 for the Warriors (5-12, 3-3). Torres had two of Felician’s seven hits and stole a base.
