CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Felician College softball team went 0-3 during the National Training Center Spring Games on Tuesday, dropping both ends of a morning doubleheader to Carson-Newman College, 19-2 and 10-3, before losing to Augustana (S.D.) College, 3-2 in eight innings.

In Game 1, Carson-Newman jumped on top with five first innings runs, taking control with two more in the second and seven in the third. The Eagles banged out 17 hits and drew eight walks in their four offensive innings. Four players had three hits in support of winning pitcher Zoe Heim (Gallatin, TN), who allowed two hits and struck out nine in four innings. Freshman Lauren DeGrushe (Guttenberg, NJ) hit her first career homerun for Felician (3-5).

The Eagles took advantage of six Felician errors to score nine unearned runs in Game 2. Amber Doran's (Little Ferry, NJ) two-run single gave Felician a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Carson-Newman stormed back with four in the top of the fifth. The Eagles' Mandy Stevens (Knoxville, TN) sealed the victory with a two-out grand slam in the seventh. Elisha Collins (Rutledge, TN) went 4 for 4 and Heim (15-3) picked up the win with 3 2/3 innings of one-hit relief. Heather Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ) went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Golden Falcons.

In Felician's night game, Augustana's Erika Wolner (Lakeville, MN) singled home the eventual winning run with one out in the top of the eighth inning during the international tiebreaker. Winning pitcher Kelly Ottis (Jerseyville, IL) retired the final two hitters with the potential tying run on third in the bottom of the eighth, outdueling the Golden Falcons' Dara DeSocio (Cliffside Park, NJ) as both starters hurled complete games. DeSocio (1-1) yielded six hits, struck out three and walked none in eight innings.

The Vikings' Alli Hubers (Pipestone, MN) erased a 1-0 deficit with a two-run homerun in the top of the fourth inning. Doran's two-out RBI single in the sixth plated Hope Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ) with the tying run, forcing extra frames. Heather and Hope Van Dyke had three hits apiece, with Hope scoring both Felician runs. The Golden Falcons left 12 runners on base.
