 RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Felician College freshman Hector Bello of Miami, Fla., has been named the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association Division II/III Rookie Player of the Week, the NJCBA announced today.
Bello, a 5-foot-11 shortstop, batted .444 (4 for 9) with a .545 on-base percentage in a 1-2 week for the Golden Falcons. He had at least one hit in each game, and scored two runs and drove in a pair in a 12-8 Game 2 victory over then-regionally-ranked University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday night.
Bello is batting .263 on the season for 5-7 Felician. Starting all 12 games, he has one homerun, eight runs scored, and seven RBI. He is a 2007 graduate of Miami Coral Park High.
