Felician Athletics - 2/23/08 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Women's Basketball Edged On Senior Day, 63-60

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Chestnut Hill College held host Felician College scoreless over the final two minutes, 33 seconds, to pull ahead and earn a 63-60 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference interdivisional women’s basketball victory on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.

Two free throws by Felician sophomore Janelle Biamonte (Secaucus, NJ/Marist) gave the Golden Falcons a 60-59 advantage with 2:33 left in regulation. But Felician went 0 for 4 from the field, plus a turnover, after that point. Two Carley Glass (Baltimore, MD/Pikesville) free throws put Chestnut Hill ahead at 0:49, and following two more successful foul shots by Tara Walsh (Woodbine, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) with just over 10 ticks remaining, Griffin freshman Jessica Pruiti (Old Bridge, NJ/Cardinal McCarrick) blocked Felician’s tying three-point attempt in the closing seconds.

Walsh paced CHC (4-22, 2-15) with 21 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Jenna Beck (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) (6-9 FG) added 16 points and Glass posted 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Griffins, who snapped a 10-game losing streak. Biamonte scored 18 points and Dee Dee Smith (Monticello, NY/Monticello) recorded 15 points and a career-high 13 rebounds for Felician (3-23, 1-15).

Smith and Crystal Ferrer (Bronx, NY/Redeption Christian Academy) were honored in pre-game Senior Day ceremonies.
