RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College men’s basketball team was outscored, 18-3, in the final six minutes, 39 seconds, of its 92-74 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division loss to visiting Bloomfield College on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.
In a game which featured 11 ties and 13 lead changes, the teams were never separated by more than six points until two Nnamdi Ahaneku (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) free throws gave Bloomfield (14-12, 5-7) a 74-66 edge with 7:39 left in regulation. Felician scored the next five points, but the Deacons then embarked on a game-deciding 13-0 run for a 87-71 lead with 2:28 to play.
Freshman Gage Daye (Newark, NJ/St. Mary’s) topped four double-figure scorers for Bloomfield with 20 points, and teammate Chris Sampson (Philadelphia, PA/Melbourne) recorded 18 points and 18 rebounds. Ahaneku finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. The Deacons held Felician (8-14, 2-9) to 36 percent shooting (24 percent in the second half) and enjoyed a 56-39 rebounding advantage.
Golden Falcon senior swingman Jason Romer (New York, NY/Wadleigh) led all scorers with 24 points. Teammate Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) contributed 17 points and six rebounds.
