RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women’s basketball team concluded its 2007-08 non-conference schedule with a 60-51 loss to the visiting University of the Sciences in Philadelphia on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium.

USP (10-10) outscored Felician, 10-2, over the last five minutes of the first half, turning a one-point lead into a 28-19 halftime edge. After the Golden Falcons’ Janelle Biamonte (Secaucus, NJ/Marist) drained a three-point field goal on the first possession of period two, the Devils proceeded to score 12 of the game’s next 14 points for a 40-24 advantage with 12:24 to play. Felician was still down by 16 nearly eight minutes later when a 7-0 spurt brought it to within 50-41 at the 1:29 mark. USP, however, converted 9 of 16 free throws and made enough defensive stops down the stretch to preserve the victory.

Devil sophomore Erin Chesnavich (Pittstown, PA/Bishop O’Reilly) posted 14 points and 11 rebounds in leading her team to a 40-23 rebounding advantage, including 13-4 on the offensive glass. Allison Weiss (Springfield, PA/Springfield) added 12 points and nine boards for USP. Senior Dee Dee Smith (Monticello, NY/Monticello) topped the Golden Falcons (3-18) with 16 points, six rebounds, and five steals, and Biamonte finished with 14 points and six caroms.

Felician ends the year with a non-conference record of 2-8. USP also won the league game earlier this year between the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foes on Jan. 5.
