RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Holy Family University women’s basketball team won its 19th consecutive game with an 85-47 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference interdivisional victory over host Felician College on Thursday night at Job Gymnasium. Holy Family is ranked No. 8 in the most recent national Division II coaches’ poll.
Holy Family (19-0, 10-0) made 14 of 25 three-point field-goal attempts (56 percent) and held Felician to 2-for-14 (14.3 percent) long-range shooting. Six different players made a trey for the Tigers. Senior Kelly Killion (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) led the winners with 16 points. Teammate Lauren Boyer (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon Catholic) (4-4 FG, 3-3 3FG) scored 15 points in 19 minutes, and Catherine Carr (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards) recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Felician (3-16, 1-9) received 16 points from sophomore Janelle Biamonte (Secaucus, NJ/Marist) and nine points and seven rebounds from junior Amanda Bartee (Jersey City, NJ/St. Mary) (3-3 FG). The Golden Falcons led for much of the game’s first seven minutes before HFU took the lead for good, 17-16, on a Lindsey Tennett (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) lay-up with 11:01 remaining in the first half. Ahead by four with 7:20 left, the Tigers then closed the half with a 20-4 run to take a 46-26 advantage into the locker room. A 16-4 HFU spurt over the first eight minutes of period two put the game out of reach. Holy Family, one of three remaining unbeaten Division II teams, forced 23 turnovers while committing 12.
