RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior swingman Jason Romer (New York, NY/Wadleigh) scored a career-high 35 points, but his Golden Falcons lost to visiting Holy Family University, 106-79, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference interdivisional men’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.

Romer set a Felician record with seven three-point field goals (on eight attempts), and added eight rebounds while registering the second-highest single-game point total in the 12-year history of the Golden Falcons. But his effort was offset by Holy Family senior guard Michael Sturns (Forth Worth, TX/North Crowley), the nation’s leading scorer in NCAA Division II. Sturns (12-21 FG) recorded 35 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals, and scored 25 second-half points as the Tigers (12-7, 6-3) outscored Felician, 54-34, in the period.

The Golden Falcons (7-11, 2-7) recovered from a 20-point first-half deficit to pull within 52-45 at halftime. HFU’s Ryan Lancaster (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/EHT) scored 21 of his 23 points in the opening half. Sturns opened period two with consecutive three-pointers, sparking a game-turning 26-6 HFU run over the next nine minutes for a 78-51 advantage. The Tigers also received 17 points and nine rebounds from Tom McKeown (Philadelphia, PA/Mercy Vocational) and 14 points and 11 boards from London Houston (Philadelphia, PA/Friends Central), while Derrell Thomas (Harlem, NY/Manhattan Central) scored 15 points with five assists for Felician.
