Felician Athletics - 1/23/08 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Smith Scores 25 But Felician Falls To Chargers

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- Felician College received a career-high 25 points from senior forward Dee Dee Smith (Monticello, NY), but lost to host Dominican (N.Y.) College, 74-52, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division women's basketball action Wednesday evening on Coach Baxter Court.

Felician (3-13, 1-8), which never led, recovered from an early 21-9 deficit to pull to within 24-21 with two minutes, 54 seconds remaining in the first half, and 27-21 at halftime. Dominican, however, began the second half with a 15-2 run, to lead by 19 points with 14:26 left to play. Helped by 57-percent second-half shooting, the Chargers were never seriously threatened again, and were ahead by as many as 24 points in the final minute.

Kristen Tracey (Bronx, NY) (4-7 3FG) scored 16 points for Dominican (13-4, 6-1), which shot 51 percent for the game, including 9 of 19 on three-point field goals. Smith made 10 of 16 shots and led the Golden Falcons with six rebounds. Teammate Janelle Biamonte (Secaucus, NJ) added 17 points.
