NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- A short jump shot by freshman Devon Young (Monmouth Junction, NJ) with four-tenths of a second to play lifted Felician College to a 75-74 non-conference men's basketball victory over host Southern Connecticut State University on Friday night at the Moore Fieldhouse.

With just over nine seconds remaining in regulation and his team ahead by a point, Southern Connecticut sophomore Trevor Harris (Nanuet, NY) missed a pair of free throws. Felician's Richard Fegins (Linden, NJ) secured the rebound of the second shot, and the Golden Falcons pushed the ball, eschewing their final timeout. Kashiff Foster (Somerset, NJ) back-rimmed a jumper from near the right "elbow," but Young (11-19 FG) grabbed the long rebound and converted from about six feet away. Amazingly, a three-quarter court heave from Harris at the buzzer was on line but hit the back of the rim. Young posted a season-high 28 points.

The tightly-contested game featured 12 lead changes and never saw the teams separated by more than seven points. The Owls (1-7) led for the last 7:04 until Young's shot, but were called for a key charging foul when up 72-68 with the ball at the 1:19 mark. The Golden Falcons' Jason Romer (New York, NY) followed with a three-point field goal. After the teams traded buckets, Felician was forced to foul, setting up the final sequence.

Harris led four double-figure scorers for Southern with 19 points. Foster had 13 points and six rebounds and Romer added 12 points for the winners. Felician used a season-low nine turnovers and a 20-11 advantage on the offensive glass to overcome its 39-percent free-throw shooting and the Owls' 55-percent rate from the field. Fifty of Felician's 75 points were scored by freshmen.
