Felician Athletics - 12/17/07 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Smith Named To MBWA Honor Roll

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Dee Dee Smith of Monticello, N.Y., has been named to the Presto Sports/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Weekly Women’s Honor Roll, the MBWA announced today.

The MBWA Player of the Week and Weekly Honor Roll are chosen from the nearly 75 senior colleges that play basketball in the New York tri-state area. One set of awards for each gender is selected out of nominees from all three NCAA Divisions. Included with Smith on this week’s Honor Roll were players from Division-I Fairfield University and Long Island University.

Smith, a 5-foot-9 forward, averaged 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Golden Falcons. She matched her career high with 22 points and added nine rebounds in Felician’s 67-55 home loss to the University of Massachusetts Lowell last Wednesday, and followed with 18 points and 12 boards in a 67-61 home victory over Mercy College on Saturday. She was also named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll.

Smith is second on the Golden Falcons with 10.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in 2007-08. She is a 2004 graduate of Monticello High. Felician has a 2-7 won-lost record heading into Friday’s non-conference game at Le Moyne College.
