RUTHERFORD, N.J. – High school senior Andrew August of Bridgewater has signed a national letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Felician College, Felician head men’s coach Del G. Harrison announced today. August committed to Felician during the NCAA’s recently-concluded early signing period.

August, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound combination forward, is the No. 34-ranked senior in New Jersey by the recruiting newsletter NJ Hoops. He has helped Bridgewater-Raritan High to Somerset County championships in each of his three seasons.

“I picked Felician because I’m going to be successful there,” August recently told NJ Hoops. “It’s got my choice of what I’m going to study. I like the coaching staff a lot. Coach Del is a real good guy; he’s a good motivator. I like the team a lot, I like the student body.”

August, who has also played for the AAU Central Jersey Shore Shots, intends to major in business administration at Felician.

“Andrew has a chance to come in and be an impact player for us,” Harrison said. “He gives us much needed size in the interior, and he’s versatile enough to play (small forward, power forward and center). He’s well-respected in New Jersey, and has played in big games in high school. He should be ready to play significant minutes as a freshman.”

Felician, an NCAA Division II member, is 3-5 in 2007-08 heading into its Dec. 17 game at Molloy College. The Golden Falcons are 0-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.
