Felician Athletics - 11/26/07 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Women Earn First Win Of Season

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The Felician College women's basketball team took a 36-17 halftime lead en route to a 68-52 non-conference victory over host Concordia (N.Y.) College on Monday night at Meyer Athletic Center.

Sophomore forward Janelle Biamonte (Secaucus, NJ) led four double-figure scorers for Felician with 21 points and nine rebounds. Biamonte shot 8 for 13 from the field. Crystal Ferrer (Bronx, NY) recorded the Golden Falcons' first double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Dee Dee Smith (Monticello, NY) finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Spurred by three early steals from point guard Krystal Dixon (Somerset, NJ), Felician (1-2) jumped out to leads of 13-3 and 24-7. The Golden Falcons, who never trailed, held Concordia to 21-percent first-half shooting (25 percent for the game) and forced 17 turnovers in the opening period.

Dixon recorded 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals on the night. Amanda Eggink (Red Hook, NY) topped the Clippers (0-3) with 12 points and seven boards.
