Felician Athletics - 11/26/07 MEN'S BASKETBALL - Young Named CACC Rookie Of Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman Devon Young of Monmouth Junction has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced today.

Young, a forward, helped Felician to a 2-1 week, all in non-conference action. Starting all three games, he averaged 18.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 51 percent from the floor and 41 percent (7 for 17) on three-point attempts. He scored a season-high 21 points in last Tuesday’s road loss to the University of New Haven.

A 2007 graduate of South Brunswick High, Young is the leading scorer for the NCAA Division II Golden Falcons early in the 2007-08 campaign. In five games, he has amassed 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists in a team-high 31.2 minutes per contest, spurring Felician to a 3-2 start. He was named the 2006-07 Middlesex County Player of the Year by the Star-Ledger.

Felician sophomore forward James Harper of Eatontown was selected to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 17.3 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in the three games last week. More information is available at www.caccathletics.org/sports/mbkb/2007-08/News/WR.mbb.11-26-07.
