RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Keisha Milstrey of Bronx, N.Y., has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the CACC announced today. Felician senior Dee Dee Smith of Monticello, N.Y., was selected as CACC Rookie of the Week. They are the first two players in the four-year history of Felician volleyball to win a conference weekly award.

After a 3-0 non-conference loss at Southern Connecticut State University on Oct. 29, the Golden Falcons (6-22, 6-11) earned CACC road victories over Nyack College in three games on Thursday and Wilmington (Del.) University in five games on Saturday. As a result, they moved into fourth place in the CACC North Division, qualifying for the CACC Tournament for the first time.

Milstrey, an outside hitter, averaged 5.45 kills per game with a .235 attack percentage for the week, and added five blocks. On Saturday at Wilmington, she matched her own school record with 27 kills. In the fifth and deciding game (which is played to 15 points instead of the usual 30), she had seven kills, including two on the last two points of the match to break a 14-14 tie and send her team to the playoffs. Milstrey is a 2004 graduate of Lehman High, and transferred to Felician after two seasons at Monroe College.

Smith is playing her first season of volleyball since high school, thus making her eligible for the rookie award. She averaged 4.36 kills and 0.91 blocks per game last week from her middle hitter position, including a 22-kill, six-dig, three-block match against Wilmington. She is hitting .174 on the year, and will likely break the single-season school record in that category. Smith is a 2004 graduate of Monticello High, and spent two years at SUNY-Cobleskill. She also plays basketball at Felician.

The Golden Falcons, led by first-year head coach Alan Clements, play their CACC quarterfinal match on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, N.J.
