RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Paul Chegwidden of Hamburg has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Cross-Country Runner of the Week, the CACC announced today. Felician freshman Jay Rodgers of Westmont was selected as CACC Men’s Rookie of the Week. It was the CACC’s final set of weekly awards for the 2007 season.

Chegwidden completed his Felician career by being the highest CACC finisher at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship on Saturday at Lock Haven (Pa.) University. He placed 38th overall out of 172 entrants, completing the 10,000-meter course in 32 minutes, 55 seconds. He sliced 2:33 off of his time in last year’s regional meet. Chegwidden, a 2004 graduate of Wallkill Valley, is the CACC Runner of the Week for the third time this season, and was the 2007 conference Runner of the Year.

Rodgers won his sixth league Rookie of the Week award after running a 34:11 at the NCAA Regional. He was Felician’s No. 4 man, the top rookie from a CACC school, and 79th overall. Helped by Chegwidden and Rodgers, the Golden Falcons finished 15th out of 27 teams, including first among seven CACC institutions. Rodgers is a 2007 graduate of Haddon Township.

The Golden Falcons, led by sixth-year head coach John Brennan, have won the last four CACC team championships.
