NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- A comeback from a late six-point Game 2 deficit fueled Southern Connecticut State University's 3-0 (30-27, 30-27, 30-25) non-conference volleyball victory over visiting Felician College on Monday night at Pelz Gymnasium.
Southern Connecticut (11-23) pulled away from a 25-25 tie to win Game 1, scoring five of the final seven points. In the second game, Felician took its biggest edge at 25-19, and still led, 27-24, before watching the Owls win the final six points. Southern then turned a 19-19 tie into a 25-20 lead in closing out the match.
The Owls owned a 12-2 advantage in service aces and out-blocked the Golden Falcons, 12-6. Lauren Coombs (Trumbull, CT) had 17 kills and three blocks for the winners. Nicole Degenhardt (Secaucus, NJ) paced Felician (4-22) with 37 assists and 11 digs and Keisha Milstrey (Bronx, NY) had a match-high 19 kills. |
