HARVEY PHILADELPHIA -- With four freshman occupying the five scoring positions, the Felician men's cross-country team finished third out of 19 schools at the Cabrini College Invitational on Saturday at Belmont Plateau.
On the last weekend before the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship, Felician coach John Brennan rested most of his upperclass regulars. Nevertheless, the Golden Falcons placed first in the team standings out of six CACC members in attendance. Only champion Haverford College and runner-up Rutgers University-Camden out-pointed the Golden Falcons.
Freshman Jay Rodgers (Westmont, NJ) became the fourth different Felician runnner this year to be the team's No. 1 man. Rodgers was 12th overall out of 159 entrants, and second among CACC runners, with an 8,000-meter time of 27 minutes, 50 seconds.
Also doing the Golden Falcon scoring were freshmen Brenden Krewer (Farmingdale, NJ) (18th, 28:04) and Chris Harvey (Maplewood, NJ) (20th, 28:08), senior Jonathan Castro (Toms River, NJ) (29th, 28:25), and freshman Dan Cugini (Freehold, NJ) (70th, 30:08). Edward Penetar of the host Cavaliers won the race in 26:23. |
