Felician Athletics - 10/11/07 WOMEN'S SOCCER - Molloy-Felician Match Halted In First Half

RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The non-conference women's soccer match between Molloy College and host Felician College was halted with six minutes, 21 seconds, remaining in the first half due to lightning and heavy rain on Thursday afternoon at Tryon Field.

Because the match did not reach the 70-minute mark, it was declared a no-contest. No make-up date has been announced.

With the score tied, 0-0, the first lightning strike was was seen during an injury stoppage with 6:21 showing on the game clock. The field was cleared and the game delayed for 40 minutes, during which heavy rain ensued and conditions worsened. At that point, referee Stanislaw Grabowski and his crew canceled the game.

Molloy (5-8-1) next plays on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. at New York Institute of Technology. Felician (4-8-1) travels to Chestnut Hill College this Saturday at noon.
