Felician Athletics - 10/9/07 WOMEN'S SOCCER - Caldwell Wins At Felician, 3-0

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Caldwell College scored twice in a three minute, 16 second, span early in the second half, keying a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women’s soccer victory over host Felician College on Tuesday afternoon at Tryon Field.

Caldwell (4-8, 4-3) received two goals and an assist from senior Brook DeLucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley), who broke the scoreless tie in the 54th minute. DeLucca had two shots from close range stopped by Felician goalkeeper Amanda Musarra (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights), who was unable to gain control of the rebound. During a scramble in front of the goal, DeLucca got to the ball away from Musarra and pushed it past the goal line.

DeLucca assisted on a Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester) tally in the 58th minute, then sealed the victory with a 20-yard shot which beat Musarra high with 2:51 remaining. Cougar keeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) earned the shutout with four saves, including stopping Felician’s leading scorer, Lindsey Petry (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional), from less than five yards in the opening period. Petry had another first-half opportunity denied on a sliding save by a Caldwell defender.

Musarra made six saves for the Golden Falcons (4-8-1, 2-5).
