HOLMDEL, N.J. -- The Felician women's cross-country team outscored the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 19-36, to win the Division II-II championship at the Monmouth University Invitational on Friday evening at Holmdel Park.

Monmouth announced well before the meet that Division I institutions would be scored separately from their non-Division I counterparts, and Felician and USMMA were the only non-D-I schools to attend the race. Had the scoring been combined, the Golden Falcons would have finished third out of six, behind only champion University of Delaware and the host Hawks in second place.

In Felician's only non-Saturday race of the season, junior Amanda Scibetta (Middletown, NJ) crossed the finish line a fraction of a second ahead of teammate Toni Fowler (Mt. Holly, NJ) to lead the Golden Falcon pack for the fifth consecutive race. Both were given a time of 20 minutes, 20 seconds, for the hilly, 5,000-meter course, with Scibetta ending up eighth and Fowler ninth overall out of 62 runners.

Also scoring for the Golden Falcons were seniors Melissa Barroqueiro (Carteret, NJ) (27th, 21:46) and Megan Williams (Nutley, NJ) (30th, 22:11) and freshman Sarah Root (Aberdeen, NJ) (35th, 22:36).
