TAKYI RODGERS RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman Jay Rodgers of Westmont has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men’s Cross-Country Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced today. Classmate Godlove Takyi of Hackensack was selected as co-Rookie of the Week in men’s soccer.
Felician has claimed three consecutive CACC rookie awards for men’s cross-country. Rodgers, who was also honored on Sept. 17, finished in 50th place out of 130 runners, mostly against Division I competition, on Saturday at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational on Saturday at Penn State University.
Rodgers, a 2007 graduate of Haddon Township High, completed the 5.2-mile course in 29 minutes, 17 seconds, and was the No. 3 man for Felician. The Golden Falcons finished seventh out of 11 schools in the team standings, including second of three non-Division I teams. Teammate Brenden Krewer of Farmingdale won the CACC Rookie of the Week award last week.
Takyi, a “redshirt” freshman, shared the men’s soccer honor with Brian Broderick of Caldwell College. He scored a goal in each of the Golden Falcons’ games last week, a 3-2 overtime home loss to Nyack College and a 4-2 loss at Wilmington (Del.) University. He scored the first goal versus Nyack 16 minutes into the match, and had a game-tying tally at Wilmington in the third minute of the second half. Takyi is a 2006 graduate of Hackensack High. Felician is 0-10-2 heading into Thursday’s CACC match at Post University. |
