NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Felician College allowed three goals in the first 12 minutes of its 5-1 CACC women's soccer loss to host Wilmington (Del.) University on Saturday at the Kirkwood Complex.
Wilmington (9-3, 4-2) received goals from Kirsten Stallone (Elkton, MD) in the third minute of the contest, Ashli Gerlach (Red Lion, PA) in the eighth, and Megan Whalen (Middletown, DE) in the 12th, and kept the offensive pressure up throughout the half. CACC leading scorer Begum Malali (Galloway, NJ) struck at 33:32 to give the Wildcats the 4-0 edge they would take into halftime. Wilmington had a 22-3 advantage in shots in the first half and 32-7 for the day.
Felician's Adrienne Giordano (Woodbridge, NJ) spoiled the shutout with a goal 2:24 into the second period. Amanda Musarra (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) made 12 saves for the Golden Falcons (3-6-1, 1-3). Chelsea Genco (Churchville, MD) also scored for Wilmington.
