RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Nyack College men’s soccer team recovered from a 2-0 halftime deficit for a 3-2 overtime victory over host Felician College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Joel Bicknell (Sandown, NH) netted the game-winning goal for Nyack (4-5-1, 1-2) exactly four minutes into the first overtime period. The Warriors’ Tim Conway (Billerica, MA) beat his man down the right wing and took a shot toward the left post which was saved on a dive by Felician goalkeeper Paulo DosSantos (Toronto, Ontario). Running down the left wing, Bicknell was the first man to the rebound, and put a shot inside the left post. Nyack’s Samuel Oduro (Toronto, Ontario) had forced overtime, converting a penalty kick after a Golden Falcon defender was whistled for handball in the box with 5:56 to play in regulation.
Godlove Takyi (Hackensack, NJ) and Peter Snihur (Ilawa, Poland) scored in the 16th and 25th minutes, respectively, to give Felician (0-9-2, 0-3-1) the early lead. The Warriors’ Eric Martinez (Kerrville, TX) cut the deficit in half at 59:34, and his team kept up the pressure, out-shooting Felician 21-3 in the second period and 33-7 for the game. DosSantos finished with 10 saves. |
