RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Holy Family University scored four times in the first 22 minutes and cruised to a 4-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women’s soccer victory over host Felician College on Saturday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Jamie-Lynn Wallace (Bensalem, PA/Nazareth) gave Holy Family (2-5, 2-0) the lead three minutes, 58 seconds, into the contest, heading a ball over the goal line that had been deflected away from the goalkeeper. Shortly after Felician’s D.J. Jacobowitz (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) hit a goalpost with a shot, the Tigers struck again when Jillian Shank (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) knocked in Megan McCusker’s (Sewell, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) corner kick. HFU took command with goals in the 19th and 22nd minutes.
Holy Family enjoyed a 14-5 first-half shot advantage, then held Felician (3-5-1, 1-2) to two second-period shots. Shank finished with a goal and an assist and Kelly Spross (Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) added two assists for the Tigers. Keepers Kelly McGrogan (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert’s) (3 saves) and Michelle Giambrone (Shamong, NJ/Seneca) split the shutout. Amanda Musarra (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights) made six saves for the Golden Falcons. |
