Felician Athletics - 9/15/07 WOMEN'S SOCCER - Late Flurry Carries Women's Soccer Past GBC, 3-1

WILMINGTON, Del. -- Junior Lindsey Petry (Newton, NJ) scored to break a 1-1 tie with 15 minutes, 14 seconds, to play, and the Felician women's soccer team went on to a 3-1 CACC victory over host Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday afternoon.

Petry's goal was assisted by Jenna Krowl (Kearny, NJ), and came just two minutes, 44 seconds, after Goldey-Beacom (0-3, 0-1) had tied the game. Felician received an insurance goal within a minute of Petry's heroics when, on a set piece started by Krowl, Petry flicked a ball to the foot of freshman Tiffany Bledsoe (Clementon, NJ), who got a shot past the goal line at 75:44.

Christine Warren (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) had come off the bench to put the Golden Falcons on top in the game's 27th minute. But the Lightning, helped by goalkeeper Brittany Owens (Springfield, VA), kept the game 1-0 into halftime despite Felician's 14-3 first half advantage in shots and 7-1 edge in corner kicks. GBC's Adrianna Polimeni (Gibbstown, NJ) got the equalizer in the 73rd minute before Felician's final flurry.

Owens finished with 18 saves. Amanda Musarra (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) made five saves for the Golden Falcons, (2-3-1, 1-1) who outshot GBC, 31-8, for the day.
