SCHEPISE BRONX, N.Y. -- Buoyed by the collegiate debut of freshmen Jay Rodgers (Westmont, NJ) and Brenden Krewer (Farmingdale, NJ) and the continued emergence of sophomore Brad Schepise (Milltown, NJ), the Felician men's cross-country team finished eighth out of 23 schools at the New York University Invitational on Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.
Felician arrived expecting to compete against 10 or fewer teams at Fordham University's Ram Invitational. But the field quickly grew when the Golden Falcons found out that the Fordham and NYU meets had been combined. The pack had no effect on Schepise, who ran a career low 8,000-meter time of 27 minutes, 46 seconds. Schepise edged teammate Mike Burghoffer (Stockholm, NJ) by three seconds to be the team frontrunner, as the duo finished 35th and 36th overall out of 238 competitors.
Rodgers finished 50th in 28:08, and Krewer followed in 57th place with a 28:21 showing. Felician's final scorer was senior Alex Wright (Stockholm, NJ), who finished 65th with a time of 28:29.
NYU won the meet with 42 points. Felician scored 243, easily finishing first among four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams in attendance.
