RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Dowling College women’s soccer team scored five goals in a 19 minute, 28 second, stretch of the first half en route to a 5-1 non-conference victory over host Felician College on Thursday night at Tryon Field.

Vanessa Moreira (Selden, NY/Newfield) and Sabrina D’Aprile (East Patchogue, NY/St. Anthony’s) gave Dowling (5-2) a 2-0 lead with goals in the 11th and 15th minutes, respectively. In short order, the duo struck again, with D’Aprile scoring at the 20:00 mark and Moreira following at 22:24. Cassandra Cronin (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) capped the spurt with an unassisted tally in the 30th minute.

Felician’s D.J. Jacobowitz (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) scored 5:18 into the second half to spoil the shutout. But despite putting all of their nine shots for the evening on goal, the Golden Falcons (1-3-1) could not strike again. Freshman Alicia Commiso (Floral Park, NY/Sewanhaka) had eight saves for the Golden Lions. Moreira finished with two goals and an assist and Cronin had a goal and an assist.

Felician goalkeeper Amanda Musarra (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights) faced 23 shots and made nine saves.
