RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Nyack College scored all three of its goals in the first 32 minutes of a 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women’s soccer victory over host Felician College on Tuesday afternoon at Tryon Field.
Nyack (2-2, 1-1) got on the scoreboard three minutes, eight seconds, into the match when a Nicole Keiser (Forked River, NJ) shot bounced off the inside of both posts before crossing the goal line. The teams traded goals in the middle of the half, but Keiser struck again in the 32nd minute to give the Warriors a 3-1 halftime lead.
The first collegiate goal for Felician freshman Nancy Vargas (Brooklyn, NY) pulled her team back within one with 4:52 left to play. The Golden Falcons put one shot on goal in their search for the equalizer, but it was easily saved by Nyack’s Whitney Shutt (Point Pleasant, NJ).
Keiser finished with two goals and an assist and Alisha Smith (Irvine, CA) had a goal and an assist for the Warriors. Shutt made 12 saves in helping Nyack survive a 25-13 shot disadvantage. Dara Klatsky (Nutley, NJ) scored and keeper Amanda Musarra (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) had five saves for Felician (1-2-1, 0-1). |
