Felician Athletics - 9/8/07 WOMEN'S SOCCER - Petry Hat Trick Sparks Felician Over STAC, 5-2

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Junior midfielder Lindsey Petry (Newton, NJ/Kittatinny Regional) scored three goals to lead Felician College to a 5-2 non-conference women’s soccer victory over visiting Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon at Tryon Field. The match was Felician’s 2007 home opener.

Petry opened the scoring in the eighth minute on a 10-yard shot, but St. Thomas Aquinas (1-5) drew even when Samantha Lopez (Cortland Manor, NY/Walter Panas) broke free on a counterattack at 24:48. The Golden Falcons answered just one minute, 56 seconds later on a 30-yard free kick by Jenna Krowl (Kearny, NJ/Kearny). Petry beat a defender on a one-on-one move and scored in the 32nd minute to give Felician a comfortable 3-1 lead heading into halftime.

Krowl finished with a goal and an assist and Cassandra Murphy (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) also scored for the Golden Falcons (1-1-1). Lopez recorded both STAC goals. Spartan goalkeeper Jeannette Gibson (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Immaculate Conception) made four saves in 64 minutes.
