RUTHERFORD, N.J. – There will be 11 non-conference games instead of the usual seven on the 2007-08 Felician College men’s basketball schedule, which was released today.

Felician will play the NCAA-maximum 27 games next season, all against D-II opponents. With the addition of Chestnut Hill College (home, Feb. 23) as its 12th men’s basketball-playing school, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has split into Northern and Southern divisions, with schools playing opponents in the opposite division only once per season.

Golden Falcons’ third-year head coach Del Harrison says the extra non-league games, most of which come early in the season, suit his team.

“We’re a young team, with only one fourth-year player,” Harrison said. “The early out-of-conference games are good to develop team chemistry. While we want to win all our games, the conference games are the priority.”

Felician opens the season with two games at the Davis & Elkins College Tournament on Nov. 17 and 18. The other nine non-league opponents come from five different conferences, plus D-II independent University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras (home, Nov. 24).

The Golden Falcons went 12-16 a year ago, and finished tied for sixth in the CACC with a 10-10 league record. They were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the CACC Tournament by Post University (home, Jan. 10; away, Jan. 15).
