HOLYOKE, Mass. -- The Felician men's soccer team survived steady pressure for a 1-1 draw with host American International College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Roberts Field. The match occurred during Day 1 of the annual AIC Classic.
All of the game's scoring occurred in the first 10 minutes, four seconds. Felician's Armin Tandir (Bosnia) converted a penalty kick at 2:57 to open the scoring. Derek Ofori (Pawtucket, RI) knotted the score just over seven minutes later.
From there, the Golden Falcons hung on to force the extra sessions. In regulation, Felician (0-1-1) was out-shot, 18-5, and AIC held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks. However, each goalkeeper needed to make only one save in the 20 overtime minutes, while Felician had two corner kick opportunities to none for the Yellow Jackets.
Felician's Paulo DosSantos (Toronto, Ontario) finished the day with 11 saves. Mathew Marcoux (Blackstone, MA) had three saves for AIC (1-0-1).
