RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women’s soccer program has signed the following five high school seniors to national letters of intent: Tiffany Bledsoe of Clementon, Brittney Brodniak of Woodbridge, Derienne Jacobowitz of Staten Island, N.Y., Amanda Mottola of Secaucus, and Nora Selimovic of Ridgefield Park.
“This talented group of freshmen and the core of returning players are full of potential,” said fifth-year head coach Erin Fitzgerald. “Together they will allow our team to compete at the same level as the top teams in our conference, and bring the pride back to a once-successful program.”
Bledsoe was an honorable-mention all-conference selection at Highland High, where she also played basketball and powder-puff football. She plays club soccer for the Cherry Hill Crush. A 5-foot-2 forward/midfielder, she intends to major in marketing/management.
Brodniak helped Woodbridge High to a conference final and a sectional final while earning second-team all-state honors. She was a three-time NJCSCA Group 2 All-North honoree, and plays for the Central New Jersey Hot Shots at the club level. A 5-foot-5 defender, she also played basketball at Woodbridge. Brodniak, a National Honor Society member, plans to double major in education and criminal justice.
Jacobowitz, a 5-foot-5 forward, was a three-time Staten Island Advance All-Star for Moore Catholic, where she also played softball. She was the Mavericks’ most valuable player in all four seasons, and plays club soccer for the Staten Island/Hazlet Wildcats. She is undecided on a major.
Mottola twice earned all-league and third-team all-county honors at Secaucus High, where she also participated in softball and track. Her most recent club team is the Rutherford Travel U-19 program. She plays both forward and midfield. Mottola is a member of the All North Jersey Regional Chorus and referees youth soccer. She will study business management.
Selimovic was a two-time all-league sweeper for Ridgefield Park High, where she also twice was an all-conference pole-vaulter. She plays club soccer for the Teaneck Stingrays. She intends to enroll in Felician’s pre-physical therapy program.
Felician, an NCAA Division II program, is looking to rebound from its 3-16-1 season in 2006.
