RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Felician College's Frank Quintana (Miami, FL/South Miami) has been voted a 2007 NCAA Division II Daktronics Honorable Mention Baseball All-American, according to balloting released on Tuesday.
Quintana, the Daktronics Northeast Region Player of the Year, was selected by the nation's D-II sports information directors. A first-baseman, he ranks 12th in the country among Division II players in home runs per game (0.33) 14th in slugging percentage (.768) and is in the top 50 in three other categories. Starting all 49 games for Felician, he hit .405 with 19 doubles, school records of 16 homeruns, 59 runs batted in and 59 runs scored, 30 walks, and 23 stolen bases. He led the CACC in six statistical categories, and was also named Player of the Year by the CACC and the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association. He is the Golden Falcons’ all-time leader in homers (35) and RBI (146).
Quintana is the first All-American at Felician in any sport since the College joined the NCAA prior to the 2002-03 academic year.
The Golden Falcons had a won-lost record of 23-26 in 2007, and finished tied for second in the CACC with a 10-6 league mark. They reached the CACC playoffs for the second consecutive season, finishing fourth in the tournament.
