WATERBURY, Conn. -- Sophomore pitcher Nicole Broecker (Staten Island, NY) escaped a first-and-third, none-out situation in the bottom of the ninth inning to preserve Felician College's 5-4 victory in Game 1 of a CACC softball doubleheader with host Post University on Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Post earned an 11-4 win in Game 2.

With the international tiebreaker in effect, Felician's Jenna Krowl (Kearny, NJ) was placed on second and eventually scored on a passed ball in the top of the ninth. In the Eagles' half, the placed runner beat Felician's throw to third on a bunt attempt by the leadoff hitter. The next batter sacrificed runners to second and third, but Broecker recorded consecutive strikeouts to end the game.

Felician (8-9, 2-6) recovered from an early 4-0 lead with four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Brittany Taylor (Saddle Brook, NJ) had a run-scoring hit, and Hope Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ) capped the rally with a three-run single. Broecker tossed all nine innings, striking out seven and walking three. Amanda Misa (New York, NY) (2 runs) and Michelle Stotz (Naugatuck, CT) (2 RBI) each went 3 for 5 for Post, which outhit the Golden Falcons, 14-6.

In Game 2, the Eagles took advantage of three Felician errors to score seven unearned runs. Post (8-14, 5-5) once again struck early, taking a 5-0 lead after two innings, and scored in five of their six offensive innings. Allison Williams (Montgomery, NY) led the Eagle offense with a 3 for 4, three-RBI performance, and winning pitcher Caitlin McAveney (Shahola, PA) was 2 for 3 with three RBI. Heather Van Dyke (West Milford, NJ) was 2 for 4 for Felician.
