PETERS WHITE LAKE, N.C. -- Freshman Joseph Peters (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) set school records for 18 and 36 holes as the Felician golf team finished 14th at the two-day Carolina Sands Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of North Carolina-Pembroke at the Carolina Sand Golf Club.
Peters opened the tournament with a 13-over-par 85, the best invididual round in the two-year history of the program. He bettered by one stroke the previous record he set in his collegiate debut on Nov. 1, and led the Golden Falcons to a team school record 369. Three Felician players bettered 100 on the same day for the first time ever.
On Sunday, Peters fired an 86 for a two-day total of 171, good for 67th place overall. Also scoring for Felician were Rob Young (Glendale, NY/Cathedral Prep) (91-96-187, 70th), Ryan Fogarty (Ridgefield, NJ/Ridgefield) (92-99-191, 71st), and Gregory Patullo (South Amboy, NJ/South Amboy) (101-107-208, 73rd). The Golden Falcons finished 14th as a team with a two-day total of 757.
Lander University's Billy Belair was the medalist with a four-under-par 140. Lander also finished first in the team standings. Complete results are available here.
