RINDGE, N.H. -- Felician College lost both ends of its non-conference baseball doubleheader to nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce College, 9-0 and 10-6, on Sunday afternoon at Pappas Field. The host Ravens are ranked No. 21 in the latest Collegiate Baseball magazine national Division II poll.

Both games were pre-scheduled for seven innings. In the opener, Franklin Pierce senior Arric Mather (Danville, NH) tossed a five-hit shutout with four strikeouts and one walk. FPC (19-4) opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the third inning off of Felician starter Danny Conti (Matawan, NJ), and put the game away with six unearned runs in the sixth.

Conti (0-2) allowed three earned runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. Kevin Renaud (Southbridge, MA) and Kevin Rivers (Bristol, CT) drove in three runs apiece for the Ravens, while Ray Rose (Piscataway, NJ) had a double for the Golden Falcons (11-15).

Rose's two-run homerun capped a four-run Felician rally in the top of the third inning of Game 2 which allowed his team to tie the game at 4-4, but Pierce responded with four runs of its own in the bottom of the frame. Felician crept closer with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but left two runners on base in each inning, before the Ravens pulled away on Renaud's two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth.

FPC's Steve Shepard (Peterborough, NH) (3-0) worked 5 1/3 innings, yielding four earned runs on four hits, and Tyler Bishop (Milford, NH) got the last five outs for his third save. Renaud was 3 for 4 with four RBI and Kim Hart (Gorham, ME) 3 for 3 with a two-run homer. Mike Libretta (Staten Island, NY) was 3 for 4 with three RBI for the Golden Falcons.
