LODI, N.J. – The Holy Family University softball team held host Felician College to seven hits in sweeping a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader, 2-0 and 2-1, on Friday afternoon at Kennedy Park.

Holy Family freshman pitcher Jody Searfoss (Weatherly, PA/Marian Catholic) earned the victory in both games. In the opener, she needed only 63 pitches in tossing a two-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none. The Tigers scored both their runs in the top of the fifth inning. Sarah Marsteller (Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun) drew a leadoff walk, stole second base, and continued home on a throwing error. Teammate Lauren Armstrong (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) followed with a solo homerun to right field.

Jennifer Escheman (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and Dolores Brown (Croydon, PA/Truman) had two hits apiece for HFU. Nicole Broecker (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) and Rebecca Dodd (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) picked up the Felician hits. The Golden Falcons did not get a runner past first base.

In the nightcap, Escheman’s sacrifice fly scored Kristilyn Obert (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury) in the top of the fifth inning with the eventual winning run. Both teams had scored single runs in the third. Searfoss (7-4) started and worked four innings, and Bridget Robinson (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert’s) tossed three one-hit frames for her first save.

Armstrong was 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Tigers (9-9, 5-1). Felician’s Meredith Rainer (Wantage, NJ/DePaul Catholic) had a RBI double.
