3/8/07 BASEBALL - Thirteen Unlucky As Felician Loses Two Print E-mail
The Felician baseball team gave up thirteen runs each in non-conference losses to LIU-C.W. Post and Northwood (Mich.) University on Thursday.

In their daytime contest, the Golden Falcons dropped a 13-4 decision to C.W. Post at Lynn University's McCusker Complex in Boca Raton, Fla. The Pioneers broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the bottom of the third inning, stroking five hits and using two Felician errors. C.W. Post took control with two more runs in the fourth for a 9-3 advantage.

Kevin Gerard pitched six innings for the victory, allowing four runs on six hits with seven strikeouts. Joe Mare was 3 for 6 with a triple and three runs scored, one of three Pioneers with three hits. Ray Rose (Piscataway, NJ) was 3 for 5 with two runs batted in for Felician (6-9).

Felician returned to Fort Pierce, Fla., on Thursday night and lost to Northwood, 13-6, at the Lawnwood Complex despite outhitting the Timberwolves, 17-13. Northwood scored five times in the bottom of the third inning to take an 8-2 lead and starter Derrick Bennett scattered nine hits over six innings, yielding three earned runs with five strikeouts and one walk.

Champ Rankin was 3 for 4 with three runs and three stolen bases and Matt Cjakowski drove in three runs for Northwood. Felician's Greg Spatz (Oakhurst, NJ) had two triples and Rose was once again 3 for 5, one of four Golden Falcons with three base hits.
